What is Halifax Out @ The Movies?

Essentially - just a bunch of gay people going to a movie together.

It all started with an article about the Minneapolis Movie Bears (
http://www.minneapolismoviebears.com) (who were inspired by the San Francisco Movie Bears; http://sfmoviebears.com/).  In both cases, members get together once a week and go to a movie together. There is usually socializing both before and after the movie. Despite the name, they welcome more than Bears - everyone's welcome.

I thought this idea would work well in Halifax - just get together once a month (or more if it's successful), go see a movie and do some socializing. So starting on May 19th, 2009 Halifax Out @ The Movies will be storming a cinema near you!

How does it work?
On the first Tuesday of the month, potential movies will be announced. Moviegoers can discuss the merits of each movie and vote for which they want to see. Important note: even if the majority of people vote for Movie A and its not playing when we go to see it, we're obviously not going to see Movie A.
On the second Tuesday of the month, the movie and time will be announced and invitations sent out.
On the third Tuesday of the month, we will gather to see the early evening show at Empire Theatres Park Lane (http://www.empiretheatres.com/theatre/43) .
