Despicable Me Reviews

An animated family movie about a supervillain? Not exactly what you'd expect from Out @ the Movies, right? And yet it got rave reviews from our moviegoers! We also had a great turn-out with almost 20 attendees, including lots of new faces and kids. Afterwards, some great conversation and treats at Dairy Queen. You can check out photos on our facebook album.

Our July 13th outing is...

Out @ Despicable Me!

...Even though it didn't win the poll. It came in second place with a respectable 34.62%.
Our winner, The Kids Are All Right, had a whopping 53.85% of the vote. Unfortunately, it has a limited initial release. I found out from Empire Theatres it probably won't hit Halifax until late July (and that could change).
In these rare instances where the winning movie is not available (not released in Halifax on expected date or not showing at Park Lane) we move down the list to our number 2 flick. And what a fine second choice it is!
Despicable Me is an animated film about an evil genius (voiced by the always enjoyable Steve Carell), his arch-nemesis (Jason Segel AKA Marshall from How I Met Your Mother) while taking care of three little girls.
You can read the full description below. Did I mention he owns a pink space suit? Kinda suspect!

When: Tuesday, July 13th; movie starts at 6:30.
Where: Empire 8 Park Lane; we'll meet at the tables by the arcade. (If this is your first time coming, look for the guy in glasses and an orange ball cap.) At 6:10 we'll head in and grab seats.
How much: Don't forget tickets on Tuesday nights are only $5.99
Who: You, me and anyone you want to invite! You can send them this link (http://bit.ly/out13july) to the blog or invite them to the facebook event.
What: Dairy Queen. That's what we'll do after the movie so you can get to know your fellow moviegoers better and have a tasty treat.
Why: Fun times with fun people and a funny film.

He is going to steal the moon! Gru delights in all things wicked; he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad.
