Reviews of Where the Wild Things Are

So what did our moviegoers think of Spike Jonze's adaptation of the beloved childhood classic Where the Wild Things Are?

Let's find out!
  • An interesting look at childhood. It was a wild and unpredictable ride even if it isn't entirely clear where the ride took us. -Kirk
  • Visually rich but it's hard to flesh out a 10-page book into 90 minutes of film. -Peter
  • It was very bland. Like vanilla without the vanilla taste. Diet vanilla!! -Brian
  • An interesting visualization of a child's inner voices via mythological monsters. Too complex for children to watch raptly. -Curtis L
  • It was interesting how Max's inner conflicts and the people in his life were represented by the "Wild Things." I thought that actor Max Records did a superb acting job as our hero Max. I felt that some of the violence was unnecessary ([SPOILERS! Highlight to read] e.g., an arm being ripped off one of the Wild Things, rocks being thrown at owls). -Cathy
  • No comment. -J
I can certainly say this: this movie generated one of the lengthiest and most complex discussions of any of the movies we have seen.

Well that's it for this time. Watch the blog for information on our next outing!
