Year of the Revenge of My Sister's Ice Enemies

This month, in honour of Halifax Pride, we're going to have two regular movie outings (our first "double bill") and a special event.
Our first regular outing is on July 7 (and our second will be on July 21). Read on for the contenders for July 7...

Year One

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Release date: June 24

Optimus Prime forms an alliance with international armies to again save Earth from the Decepticons, who have returned on a mission to kidnap Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) .

Why you want to see it: This is one of the big action movies of the summer and a sequel to last year's hit Transformers! Many of us have fond memories of Transformers toys and TV shows when we were children and this is your chance to see them on the big screen, bigger and more action-packed than the first!

My Sister's Keeper
Release date: June 26

Conceived as a marrow donor for her gravely ill sister, Anna Fitzgerald (Abigail Breslin) has undergone countless surgeries and medical procedures in her short life. Though their older daughter's life has no doubt been prolonged, the unorthodox decision of Anna's parents has cracked the entire family's foundation. When Anna sues her parents for emancipation, it sets off a court case that threatens to destroy the family for good.

Why you want to see it: Based on the popular book of the same name, this is a movie sure to pull at your heart strings and challenge your definition of family. Be sure to bring tissues!

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Release date: July 1

After Sid (John Leguizamo) pilfers some dinosaur eggs, Manny (Ray Romano), Diego (Denis Leary) and the rest of their prehistoric pals enter a mysterious, underground world to rescue the hapless sloth. During the course of their mission, the gang encounters many creatures great and small, including hungry carnivores and a relentless, dinosaur-hunting weasel named Buck.

Why you want to see it: This animated comedy is the third movie in the Ice Age franchise and should be fun for all ages.

Public Enemies
Release date: July 1

Depression-era bank robber John Dillinger's (Johnny Depp) charm and audacity endear him to much of America's downtrodden public, but he's also a thorn in the side of J. Edgar Hoover (Billy Crudup) and the fledgling FBI. Desperate to capture the elusive outlaw, Hoover makes Dillinger his first Public Enemy Number One and assigns his top agent, Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale) the task of bringing him in dead or alive.

Why you want to see it: One of America's most notorious criminals played by one of it's most famous actors? Throw in an amazing cast of talented and supporting actors and you've got a blockbuster hit on your hands.

Vote now! The poll closes at 11 p.m on Monday, July 29th.
