The votes have been counted and our second movie outing is The Taking of Pelham 123!

We'll head out to the theatre on Tuesday, June 16th at Park Lane. The movie starts at 6:40 p.m. We'll rally at the bottom of the escalators starting around 6 and head in to grab seats around 6:25. If this is your first time attending, look for guy in the orange baseball cap!

After the movie, we'll head to the Second Cup for some post-movie discussion and socializing.

Tickets are $8.99; you can purchase tickets online at https://www.empiretheatres.com/empire-express/SON00113/43/6-16-2009/18:40.

So what is the The Taking of Pelham 123 all about?
"Chaos reigns in the New York City subway system when heavily armed criminals, led by a mastermind named Ryder (John Travolta), hijack a subway train and threaten to kill everyone on board unless a large ransom is paid. Dispatcher Walter Garber (Denzel Washington) uses his extensive knowledge of the transit system in a bid to outwit the hijackers and save the hostages, but one question remains: even if the hijackers get their money, how can they possibly escape?"
Fun fact: This is a remake 1974's The Taking of Pelham One Two Three which starred Walter Matthau. That movie inspired the naming of the characters for Quentin Tarentino's Reservoir Dogs.
Fun fact: This is actually the second re-make of the original; the first re-make was a 1998 made-for-TV movie starring Edward James Olmos.
